A Defiance man died in a truck-motorcycle crash that occurred southwest of the city early Tuesday evening. James Fifer, 60, Defiance, was pronounced dead at the scene by Defiance County Coroner Dr. Paul Brose. According to troopers at Ohio Highway Patrol's Defiance post, at 5:03 p.m. a pickup truck driven by Alexandria Rosebrock, 19, Hicksville, was stopped at Krouse and Hammersmith roads. She then attempted to turn north onto Hammersmith Road and struck an eastbound motorcycle driven by Fifer. Fifer was thrown from his motorcycle. Rosebrock and her passenger, Amanda Hageman, 19, Defiance, were not injured and both were wearing seat belts. Troopers reported that Fifer was wearing a helmet. The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending. Also assisting at the scene were the Defiance County Sheriff's Office and Defiance Fire Department. Comments
