SAGINAW, Mich. -- Harper Collins Publishing has introduced American Profile's book Hometown Heroes which was released nationally last month. The paperback features 50 people from around the nation that have made a significant impact on their community and beyond. One such hometown hero is Bob Heft of Saginaw, Mich. Heft is the designer of America's current national flag of 50 stars. He is indeed the modern day Betsy Ross. His inspiring life story is truly one of the highlights of the book. He has been featured in the PBS TV movie, "Seeds of Americana" a featured question on the CBS TV program, "Jeopardy", and hundreds of magazines and newspapers. He is one of the most sought after speakers on patriotism and flag history. The former seven term Mayor of Napoleon is a retired college teacher from Northwest State Community College, Archbold. Heft is featured in the book and will be making a limited number of appearances at book signings across the country. His first signing session will be at the Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 3311 Tittabawassee, Saginaw, Mich., from 1-4 p.m. on June 23-24. Comments
