PAULDING -- A Paulding man died Thursday afternoon after the snowmobile he was operating collided with a pickup truck in Jackson Township, authorities say.

Jason Heifner, 29, was pronounced dead at the Paulding County Hospital.

According to the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 3:25 p.m., Heifner was riding a snowmobile north on Road 123 when he failed to yield at a posted stop sign at Ohio 613 and was struck by a westbound pickup truck driven by Mitchell McClure, 26, Oakwood.

Heifner was thrown from the snowmobile, deputies reported.

McClure was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Paulding County Fire and EMS.
