Chad Billingsley will miss rest of reason with torn flexor tendon

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Dodgers righty Chad Billingsley will miss the rest of the season with a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow, which will require surgery next Tuesday. Billingsley hasn't pitched in a major league game since April 15, 2013, nine days before he underwent Tommy John surgery.

"I'll have spent two years of my life rehabbing, but I've got to do it," Billingsley said in a story by Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com. "It's not as long as Tommy John rehab, they tell me, about six months, so that's good. This was my best chance to pitch next year."

In March, 2011, the Dodgers inked the Defiance graduate to a three-year, $35 million contract extension. The Dodgers have a $14 million option for next season with a $3 million buyout.
