For some, the competitive spirit never dies. Once a professional triathlete over two decades ago, Sam Switzer was fully engaged in the professional triathlon scene - even earning a slot in the World Ironman Championship in his heyday before eventually retiring his race shoes. A hiatus from the racing world proved to be as much of a challenge for him as the sport itself, though, as the need to compete coaxed the Defiance area endurance athlete out of retirement and back into the mix.
