Holgate finishes on a strong note

HOLGATE -- Holgate outscored Antwerp 23-0 in the second half en route to a 43-14 GMC victory.

Mitchell Gonzalez found paydirt three times to lead the Tigers (2-8, 2-5 GMC), scoring on runs of seven and 13 yards while also returning a 63-yard kickoff for a score.

Tom Taylor scored on a 68-yard run to pace the Archers (1-9, 1-6 GMC).

AYERSVILLE --Wayne Trace finished their season with a 34-0 win over Green Meadows Conference rival Ayersville.

Dylan Horner ran for 241 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Raiders (5-5, 3-4 GMC), which totaled 465 yards of offense. Colby Speice helped out with 71 yards rushing and 93 yards passing.

The Pilots end with a 2-8 overall record and 0-7 mark in conference play.

METAMORA --Bryan dominated Evergreen 40-7, rolling up 443 yards offense in Northwest Ohio Athletic League play.

Austin Schimmoeller led the way for the Golden Bears (8-2, 6-2 NWOAL) with 218 yards passing, completing 12 of 24 and two passing touchdowns. Schimmoeller added 52 yards rushing on 11 carries and one touchdown on the ground. Collin Bacon ran in for three TDs for Bryan and 58 yards on 13 carries.

The Vikings (3-7, 3-5 NWOAL) were paced by Matt Taylor with 59 yards rushing and the lone touchdown.

Cody Miller led the Panthers (2-8, 1-7 NWOAL) with 117 yards rushing and a touchdown.

LAFAYETTE --Swanton picked up its second win of the season with a 36-22 victory over Allen East.

Mimmo Lytle and Andrew Foore both ran for two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (2-8).

Evan Thomas led the Mustangs (1-9) with a pair of touchdowns, including a 69-yard run.

Jordan Travis had 226 yards passing and three touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (7-3, 5-3 NWC) while Derek Rieman chipped in with five catches for 167 yards and two scores.

Jeremy Basinger paced the Pirates (6-4, 4-4 NWC) with 58 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

CONVOY -- Paulding came up short in its quest for a win, falling to Crestview 48-20 in the Northwest Conference finale.

The Knights (4-6, 4-4 NWC) outgained Paulding 391-187, including 328 yards on the ground. Matt Holden led the way with 153 yards rushing and two scores. Holden also had two touchdowns receiving and one interception return for a score.

The Panthers (0-10, 0-8 NWC) were paced by quarterback Julian Salinas who had 190 yards through the air and two touchdown passes.

GIBSONBURG --Edon took down Gibsonburg in the last regular-season game of the year 35-18 to clinch a playoff berth.

The Blue Bombers (7-3, 6-1 TAAC) were led by Shannon Geren with 162 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns. Keegan Long added 102 yards passing and one touchdown on the ground.

Matt Tille paced the Golden Bears (5-5, 4-3 TAAC) with 126 yards passing and two touchdowns along with 41 yards rushing.

LAKESIDE -- Hilltop topped Danbury in a high-scoring TAAC affair ,50-30.

The Cadets (4-6, 2-5 TAAC) pounded out 440 yards on the ground led by the one-two punch of Brandon Semer and Miklo Abner. Semer finished with three touchdowns and 191 yards rushing while Abner scored twice and had two TDs.

Lucas Kennedy ran for 135 yards and three touchdowns for the Lakers (3-7, 1-6 TAAC).

McCOMB-- After trailing 20-13 at halftime, Leipsic scored 35 unanswered points to defeat McComb 48-20 in Blanchard Valley Conference action.

Trevor Schroeder ran for 181 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Vikings (9-1, 9-0 BVC), which clinched the BVC title and most likely the number one seed in the Division IV Region 22 playoffs. Devin Mangas caught seven passes for 159 yards and a touchdown for Leipsic.

Clay Dysert scored on a 13-yard run to pace the Panthers (7-3, 7-2 BVC).

WAPAKONETA -- Kenton captured the Western Buckeye League crown with a 52-32 win over Wapakoneta in a battle of unbeatens.

Maty Mauk hit 28-of-40 passes for 2867 yards and five touchdowns for the Wildcats (10-0, 9-0 WBL) while also running for 183 yards on 23 attempts and two scores. Brice Fackler chipped in with 73 yards receiving and two TDs for Kenton.

Connor Pickens paced the Redskins (9-1, 8-1 WBL) with 128 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

O-G 61, Van Wert 7

VAN WERT --O-G built a 35-0 halftime lead and went on to a 61-7 victory over Van Wert.

The Titans (8-2, 7-2 WBL), which advanced to the Division IV Region 14 playoffs, racked up 438 yards on offense and held the Cougars to 165. Brandon Kuhlman ran the ball 17 times for 202 yards and four touchdowns.

Van Wert ( 0-10, 0-9 WBL) was led by Caled Lloyd with 45 rushing yards and a TD.

Celina 49, Lima Bath 34

BATH TOWNSHIP -- Celina picked up its second WBL win of the season with a 49-34 victory over Lima Bath.

The Bulldogs (2-8, 2-7 WBL) threw for 289 yards, led by Braden Billger who was 26-34 for 264 yards and four touchdowns. Zach Hembree chipped in with 113 yards on the ground and a score.

The Wildcats (4-6, 3-6 WBL) pounded out 324 yards rushing with Keanu James running for 119 yards on 19 attempts and four touchdowns.

Shawnee 42, St. Marys 21

ST. MARYS --The season came to a close with a 42-21 victory for Lima Shawnee over St. Marys Memorial.

Sam Altenbach ran for four touchdowns to lead Lima Shawnee past St. Marys, 42-21.

Altenbach finished with 217 yards on 21 carries for the Indians (5-5, 4-5 WBL).

D.J. Manning ran in for three touchdowns for the Roughriders (4-6, 3-6 WBL).
