Pioneer, Ohio, man killed in Monday crash

MONTPELIER -- A Williams County motorcyclist died Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash near here.

Killed was Robert Gray, 27, of Pioneer. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Williams County assistant coroner.

According to the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, at Williams County roads I and 10, Gray was northbound on a motorcycle at 6:32 p.m. and failed to yield at a stop sign. He entered the intersection and collided with a westbound van driven by Misty Rice, 34, Edon.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

Rice and her passengers, Rebecca Waters, 5, Edon, and Cloye Wonsey, 7, Camden, Mich., were transported to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, where they were listed in stable condition this morning.

The intersection was partially closed for approximately two hours.

Troopers reported that a safety belt was in use by Rice and her passengers were secured as well. A helmet was in use by Gray.

The crash currently remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Williams County Sheriff's Office, Montpelier Fire and Rescue and Williams County Life squad.
