Temporary traffic changes planned for Vietnam moving wall procession in Defiance

Published:

Since there are expected to be more than 1,000 motorcyclists escorting the Moving Wall-Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. from the K of C Hall to its eventual destination at Defiance College, law enforcement has issued some guidelines. The procession with the wall and the motorcyclists will leave the K of C Hall at 9 a.m. and travel east on Elliott Road to the Domersville overpass. The procession will then travel onto U.S. 24 and go west to Baltimore Road and then into the city. As it does, fire trucks and law enforcement cruisers will be parked on the north-bound lanes of Carpenter Road, Ohio 66 north and the Ohio 15/18 overpass.

The vehicles will be running and will have their flashing lights going during this time. There will be a law enforcement officer staged at the south end of each of the overpasses. The Carpenter Road overpass will be shut down from 8-10 a.m. Following the shutdown, the first responder vehicles will be dismissed from the overpass.

The Ohio 66 north and Ohio 15/18 overpasses will remain open with the northbound traffic down to one lane. This will last from 8-10:30 a.m. Signs will be posted at Carpenter Road and Stadium Drive and at Carpenter Road and Elliott Road, stating information about the closure.
