Defiance under a snow emergency, parking ban set


Defiance Mayor Bob Armstrong has declared a snow emergency effective immediately and subsequent parking ban today beginning at 11 p.m.

To facilitate the movement of traffic and permit efficient snow removal operations, parking is prohibited on the following downtown streets from 11 p.m. today until 7 a.m. Friday.

Those streets include: Jackson Avenue and Perry Street between First and Fifth streets; Clinton Street between Fort and Arabella streets; Wayne Avenue between Fort and Fifth streets; First Street between Wayne and Jackson avenues; Second, Third and Fifth streets between Jefferson and Jackson avenues; and Fourth Street between Jefferson Avenue and Perry Street.

Any vehicle parked on a designated street after 11 p.m. will be removed and impounded at the owner's expense, and subject to a fine of $25.

The city will reassess the situation and a subsequent parking ban may be called for the removal of additional snow as needed.
