Defiance city officials have announced that a portion of Jefferson Avenue will be closed Thursday.
According to the city engineer's office, Jefferson Avenue will be closed Thursday morning to through traffic between Meyers and Fifth streets while a traffic signal at Arabella Street is repaired. Work should be completed by the end of Thursday, the engineer's office noted in a press release.
Meanwhile, Arabella Street will be closed to through traffic from Wayne to Washington avenues.
While the intersection of Jefferson and Arabella will be completely closed to traffic, according to the engineer's office, traffic "will be able to route around this intersection using Wayne Avenue or Washington Avenue."
The press release also notes that during the day, residents and businesses will retain access to their properties, and adds that "this repair should be finished at the end of the day Thursday, with through traffic allowed again Thursday evening. Some additional work may be performed at this intersection on Friday morning, but it should remain open to traffic."
