ANTWERP The Antwerp community turned out in force Sunday afternoon to welcome Governor Bob Taft and join him in celebrating the grand opening and dedication of the new Antwerp school. Taft spoke to guests, educators, administrators and students during the 45-minute ceremony, welcoming the youth back to the new school. The first day of classes following the Christmas break began today. An extended holiday vacation was planned to accommodate the extensive moving process. The state-of-the-art school, which accommodates grades pre-kindergarten through 12, is located at 303 S. Harrmann Road on the east side of the village. Ground was broken in May 2002 for the 140,000-square-foot school. Of the projects $20.38 million price tag, 84 percent or approximately $17 million was picked up by Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC).
