State officials have reached a decision on the future of Defiances West High Street/U.S. 24 intersection.
Although its not the one preferred by local officials and some businessmen, its favorable to those who were concerned about the impact of an interchange there on residential properties.
Local officials had hoped that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) would sanction an interchange connecting West High to U.S. 24 when the federal route is widened. Instead, ODOT announced Monday that it will close the West High/U.S. 24 intersection by constructing an underpass while compensating by building a new road connecting West High to Ralston Avenue.
