The identity of the man who jumped into the Auglaize River Saturday morning after being chased by police officers has been released. Garrit Nixon, 20, 21487 Bowman Road, has been reported missing since the early morning hours of Saturday and is believed to have drowned. According to the Defiance Police Department, officers received a call regarding a vandalism complaint on South Clinton Street at 5:28 a.m. Saturday. When two police officers arrived at the scene, they reported seeing two male individuals fleeing the area.
