A referendum petition seeking to place a northside Defiance rezoning ordinance before voters has received the okay from the countys board of elections.
The petition circulated by those opposing a rezoning ordinance passed by city council on Sept. 9 contained enough good signatures to be considered valid, according to county election officials. This makes it eligible for the 2004 November election, placing a related development project on hold for at least a year.
The ordinance, approved 4-2 by council, rezoned properties at 602-622 N. Clinton St. and 603-625 Nicholas St. from AO (apartments and offices) to B-3 (general business).
