A large, lumbering 1995 Marine helicopter made its way over Defiance County Airport as more than a dozen family members, friends and acquaintances of U.S. Marine Sgt. Tyler Gump waited patiently for him to land Thursday afternoon. Gump, a 1998 Defiance High School graduate, has served his country since the day after his graduation. On Thursday, he and fellow crew members landed briefly in Defiance, en route from Edwards Air Force Base in California to deliver the chopper to Cherry Point, N.C.
