City might exercise an option that it has ignored for 16 years
By TODD HELBERG
With Defiance City Halls financial picture dropping to desperate levels last year, officials are proposing to exercise an option that has been ignored for 16 years imposing a $5 motor vehicle registration fee that some local governments have had on the books for years.
An ordinance levying the $5 fee beginning next year was let lie by Defiance City Council last Tuesday night. It is expected to receive a second reading Tuesday, but not until councils finance committee has a chance to discuss the proposal at 6:30 p.m. that evening in the city service building, 631 Perry St.
