Carrie English and Nick Engel were married at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church by Pastor Dave Brobston.
Parents of the couple are George and Mary Decker and the late Dennis English Sr. and Doug and Pam Engel, all of Defiance.
The wedding colors were brown and various fall hues.
Attending the bride as matrons of honor were Valerie Killion of Defiance and Jessica Berg of Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
Bridesmaids were: Brittni Engel, Abbey Meek and Abby Guilford, all of Defiance; and Sarah Ordaz, Puyallup, Wash. Ushers were Kaycie McBride and Nikki Craig, both of Defiance. Flower girl was Addison Zartman, Defiance.
Serving the groom as best man was Nicholas Hoffman, Defiance. Groomsmen were: Dan Fiske, Mason; Dennis English Jr., Defiance; Jake Stork, Cincinnati; Justin Keel, Fort Wright, Ky.; and Eric Sierra, Defiance. Ushers were: Bill Zartman, Defiance; Brett Zartman, Macy, Ind.; and Christopher Hurst, Napoleon. Ring bearers were Dennis English III and Ashton English, both of Defiance.
The bride has a master's degree in public administration from Central Michigan University. She is employed by Social Security.
The groom has a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University. He is employed by Trans Canada Pipeline.
Following the ceremony a reception for 500 guests took place at the UAW hall.
The newlyweds enjoyed eight days in Gatlinburg, Tenn., for their honeymoon.
They make their home in Defiance.
