Military: Schroeder graduates basic training with honors

FORT SILL, Okla. -- Army Petty Officer Justin Schroeder has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla., as an honor graduate and received a Letter of Commendation.

Schroeder's academic and military accomplishments were a direct result of energetic application of sound judgment and newly acquired technical knowledge. His attention to detail, appearance, cooperative spirit, military bearing, and military courtesy were commendable and exemplary, and contributed to the Battery Cadre of the 19th Field Artillery Regiment's successful mission accomplishments.

During the nine weeks of basic combat training, Schroeder studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, armed and unarmed combat.

A 2006 graduate of Paulding High School, he is the son of Tracey and David Schroeder, Oakwood. His wife, Abbi, is the daughter of Rob and Sheri Cereghin, Defiance.

During the nine weeks of training, Reyes studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, armed and unarmed combat. A recent graduate of Defiance High School, Reyes is the brother of Rudy Reyes, Defiance, and grandson of Janie Hernandez, Dallas, Texas.

McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Army Reserve Sergeant Matthew Rhoades is returning to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., after being deployed to Afghanistan serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been mobilized, activated and deployed along with active duty members to support the war against global terrorism. Mission objectives encompass combating the international terrorist network or regime forces outside the borders of the United States.

Rhoades, a 2002 graduate of Antwerp High School, is the son of Tamy Pollock, Antwerp. He is a squad leader with the 428th Engineer Co., Wausau, Wis.
