Marcile 'Sally' Elling

LIBERTY CENTER -- Marcile L. "Sally" Elling, 89, of Liberty Center, Ohio, died on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the Napoleon Lutheran Home. She was born on December 15, 1924, in Napoleon, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Ida (Scheele) Nye. On June 30, 1946, she married Eldor Elling who preceded her in death on February 4, 2003.

Sally was a 1942 graduate of Marion Township High School. She worked at Tenneco and retired after 25 years of employment. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Liberty Center, and a member of the St. Paul's Women of the Church. She was a member of Tenneco Retiree's group, Tuesday quilters and Harrison Township Gleaners. Marcile loved her garden and her flower garden and always enjoyed sharing with family and friends in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed helping her husband on the family farm.

She is survived by her children, Virginia (Sam) Rice of Wauseon, Michael (Jackie) Elling and Herbert (Teresa) Elling, both of Liberty Center; daughter-in-law, Betty Elling of Wauseon; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sons, James and Thomas Elling; and brothers, Ronald, Robert and Lowell Nye.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 08074 County Road T, Liberty Center, Ohio, with Pastor Keith Witte officiating. Interment will follow at Heath-Colton Cemetery, Liberty Center, Ohio.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
