Janyth 'Jan' Sworden

NAPOLEON -- Janyth "Jan" Rae Sworden, 78, Napoleon, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014, at St. Anne Mercy Hospital in Toledo.

Jan was born November 14, 1935, to Norman and Madonna (Davis) Zellers. She graduated from Napoleon High School and worked in housekeeping at the former Holiday Inn from 1972 until her retirement. Jan had a great sense of humor and was always outgoing and friendly to everyone she met. She will be remembered for her love of cats. Jan was a former member of Christ United Methodist Church, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 8218.

She is survived by her children, Bill (Karen Schackow) Sworden, Lori (Brock) Fruth, and Jim (Angie) Sworden; grandchildren, Christopher, James, Chase, and Ezekiel; stepgrandchildren, Nicholas and Galen; sister, Sharon (John) Sterner; brother, Tom (Jeanne) Zellers; and her best friend, Marge.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 39 years, Weldon Sworden; and her brother, Terry Zellers.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at the funeral home, with Pastor Ben Sheaffer officiating.

Entombment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance, Ohio.
