HICKSVILLE -- John Hagen, 65, Hicksville, died Sunday, August 10, 2014, at his home.

He was born on November 11, 1948, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Arnold and Marie (Heimann) Hagen. John was a 1966 graduate of Hamler High School and attended Bowling Green State University. On November 29, 1974, he was united in marriage to Jacki McDougle and she survives. John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was employed by CSX Transportation. John was a member of Eagles Aerie 2556, Ohio Historical Society and Ohio Canal Society, and a former member of the Hicksville American Legion. John loved local history, the Detroit Tigers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

John is survived by his wife, Jacki; sisters, Ann Hagen (Thomas Dooley) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mary (William) Lammers of Defiance, Ohio; brothers, Paul (Fay) Hagen of Holgate, Ohio, Robert (Julie) Hagen of Defiance, Ohio, and Mark (Kristin) Hagen of Austin, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two infant brothers and an infant sister.

Services for John will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
