McCLURE -- James Ross Kieffer, 91, of McClure, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Oak Grove Healthcare Center, Deshler.
He was born May 14, 1923, to the late Ralph and Nellie (Bradshaw) Kieffer. On July 11, 1948, he married Mildred "Fern" Richard in Newport, Ky., and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2008.
James graduated from McClure High School in 1941, and then furthered his education at Bowling Green State University, where he achieved a specialist's degree in education. He was a math teacher with several northwest Ohio schools. He was a member of Westhope Bible Church, Henry County Retired Teachers Association, and Richfield and Bethel Grange. He volunteered with many organizations with his late wife, Fern. He will always be remembered for his research and preparation of trivia quizzes.
He is survived by children, Joyce (Jerry) Erven, Nora Kieffer, Robert (Jodi) Kieffer, all of McClure, and Donald Kieffer, of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ronald, Tom, Glenn and Richard Kieffer; sisters, Ellen Moore, Evelyn Kieffer, Dorothy Kieffer, Phyllis Kieffer and Nancy Maxwell.
Services are being planned and will be announced at a later date. Jim's final wishes were to have his body donated to the University of Toledo Medical College.
