Bill R. Clyburn, 86, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

He was born on August 19, 1927, to Frank and Dorothy (Bryant) Clyburn in Albion, Ind. On March 23, 1968, he married Virginia (Schackow) Clyburn. Bill was a member of Defiance Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a life member of VFW Post 3360 and UAW Local 211 Retirees. He retired from GM in 1982.

Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Ronald Clyburn of Sherwood; daughter, Lynn (Greg) Wonderly of Sherwood; grandchildren, Erick Clyburn, Ross (Casandra) Wonderly and Kyle (Megan) Wonderly; stepgrandson, Terry (Tammy) Allshouse; great-grandchildren, Ryan Allshouse, Trace Allshouse, Castalyn Allshouse, Ethan Wonderly and Elliott Wonderly; and a great-great-grandchild, Bryce Allshouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Dennis W. Allshouse Sr.; brothers, Luther and Walter Clyburn; sisters, Jewell Mielke, Frances Gardner, Josey Long; and stepgrandson, Dennis W. Allshouse Jr.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
