RENO, Nev. -- Thomas "Tom" Schultz, Reno, passed away in his sleep at age 71 on July 6, 2014.
He was born in Defiance, Ohio, on May 15, 1943, to Eva Hesselschwardt-Schultz and Bernard Schultz, who have preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brothers, Mike Schultz of Lincoln, Calif., Robert Schultz of Defiance and Ronald Schultz of Detroit; and his sisters, Mary "Peggy" Schultz-Westfield of Helendale, Calif., and Barbara Schultz-Mayle of Detroit.
He retired from the Nevada State Hospital in Sparks, Nevada, and had lived in the Reno-Sparks area since coming to visit his brother, Mike, in 1968. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Independence and was a participant in the 13-day Cuban missile crisis in October of 1962. He will be buried at the Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada.
