PAYNE -- Glen W. Schmidt, 87, of Payne, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Glen was born in Payne, on September 18, 1926, a son of the late Ida (Carpenter) and Harry Schmidt. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, was the owner of the Blacksmith Shop in Payne and co-owner of Almet in New Haven. Glen was a devout member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish.
On March 15, 1947, Glen married Donna Deeter.
Glen will be sadly missed by his wife, Donna; children, Dennis (Shirley) of Hawaii, Daniel of Englewood, Fla., Diane (Jim) Langbehn of Cornelius Ore., Gregory of Cedarville, Ind., and Gay (James) Beebe of Delton, Mich.; siblings, Victoria Fisher, Lucille, Paul and William (Linda), all of Payne, Roy (Joann) and Delores Dougherty, both of Fort Wayne, and Betty Rister of Antwerp; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Glen's funeral Mass will be at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Payne, on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 10 a.m. Viewing is Monday, from 4-7:30 p.m., with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. at Dooley Funeral Home, Payne, where viewing is also Tuesday, 9-9:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
