Eugene 'Gene' Richmond

Eugene R. (Gene) Richmond, 46, of Montpelier (Nettle Lake), passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, Ohio.

He was born on August 4, 1967, in Oak Hill, Ohio. He married Hope A. (Lang) Richmond. He was a cook for several area restaurants including the Kettenring Club and Shaker's in Defiance, Ohio, and Timber's in Indiana. Gene loved to fish and hunt. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching cooking shows. Gene also enjoyed his K-9 companion, Boris.

He is survived by his wife, Hope; son, Phillip Richmond, at home; parents, Charles and Elizabeth Richmond of Defiance; grandmother, Gertie McCain; half sister, Rossi (Paul) Spry of Jackson, Ohio; half brother, William (Amanda) Elliott of Jackson, Ohio: birth mother, Judith Elliott of Defiance, Ohio; many friends, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; good friend, Ryan Shaw of Montpelier; and best friend, Kim Mayer of Florida.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Peggy Lee Richmond; grandparents, Fred and Peggy McDaniel, Bill Richmond.

Memorial services will be held at Believer's Church International, 1600 Ayersville Avenue, Defiance, Ohio, at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21, with Apostle O. Michael Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held after the service at the church.

The family requests memorials be directed to Phillip Richmond toward his college fund.
