Robert H. Serrick, 98, of Defiance, passed away on June 5, 2014, at GlennPark of Defiance .

He was born on August 15, 1915, to Leo and Margaret (Ziegler) Serrick at Toledo, Ohio. On April 2, 1934, he married June Mercer, who preceded him in death on May 22, 1995.

He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Defiance, Defiance Rotary, and the past president of the Kettenring Country Club and Defiance County United Way. Robert was the president of Defiance Stamping Company and served on the board of directors for the Shawnee Council of the Boy Scouts. He was a 1933 graduate from Defiance High School and attended Defiance College. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. In 2007, he received the Mike Schultz Leadership Award.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Thomas) Callan of Defiance, Ohio; son, Gerald R. Serrick of Fremont, Ind.; two grandchildren, Lisa (Dave) Muller and Brian (Amy) Callan; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sisters, Dorothy Hendricks, Ruth Phillips, Jeanne Stenger and Helen Ritchie.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 9, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home Inc., Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 10, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery mausoleum.
