Henrietta 'Dickie' Mack

Henrietta "Dickie" Mack, 94, of Defiance, passed away on June 4, 2014, at the Laurels of Defiance.

She was born on July 7, 1919, to August and Philomena (Heidenescher) Wallen in Fort Jennings, Ohio. Dickie worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Wilcott in Defiance, Ohio. On April 19, 1941, she married Edward J. Mack in Ney, Ohio. They spent many happy years together until Edward's death in 1997.

Dickie was a life member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. Dickie started the Noodle Club and volunteered her time at St. Mary's School library. She also enjoyed her vegetable garden, crocheting, and was a devoted Cleveland Indians fan.

Dickie is survived by her special great-nieces/daughters Jenna Foor of Hicksville, Ohio, and Amanda (Gabriel) Jordan of Defiance, Ohio; sisters, Pauline Weaner of Leland, Mich., and Fredona (Ken) Hall of Laramie, Wyoming. Dickie was also blessed with three generations of nieces and nephews who filled her life with love and joy through the years. She enjoyed spending time with her "Youngsters" and made sure she attended their activities, events, and games.

Dickie was preceded in death by father, August Charles Wallen; mother, Philomena Rose Wallen; loving husband, Edward J. Mack; sister, Rita Rigg; brothers, Sylvester, Irvin, Robert, and Norman Wallen; and niece, Jackie LaFleche.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 6, 2014, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Father Randy Gesige officiating. Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery.
