Dorothy Jean Myles, 74, of Holgate, died Saturday morning, May 24, 2014, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
Her Legacy… She was born on September 28, 1939 to Orville and Luella Ann (Nartker) Rettig in Napoleon. Luella Ann died when Dorothy was very young. Her father then married Florence Kurtz. Dorothy graduated from Malinta Grelton High School in 1957. On September 28, 1958 she married Larry Grant Myles. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2008. She was a nurse. Over the years, she worked for the Defiance Clinic ER and Defiance Clinic Family Practice. She retired from the Filling Home of Mercy in Napoleon. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holgate. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her Family… She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Sandra (Dave) Houck, Napoleon; sons, Michael (Theresa) Myles, New Bavaria and Jim (Jeanette) Myles, Holgate; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Lois) Rettig, Holgate, twin brother, Don (Lois) Rettig, Malinta; and sisters, Charlotte (Bill) Wachtman, Napoleon, Peg (Carl) Rausch, Napoleon, Margery "Butch" (Jeff) Wallace, Liberty Center and Mary (Kit) Thompson, Napoleon.
Her Farewell Services… Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 27 from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. in the Zachrich Funeral Home, Holgate, and are hour prior to the service. The celebration of Dorothy's life will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Holgate on Wednesday, May 28 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Rob Johnson officiating. Burial will be private.
