BRADENTON, Fla. -- Roger R. Mohr, 76, Bradenton, Fla, passed away Feb. 20, 2014.

Roger was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Paulding, Ohio, to the late Russell and Margaret (Brittig) Mohr. Roger lived most of his life in Defiance, Ohio. He attended Ayersville High School and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Roger worked for Chief Supermarket before he was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1961 for two years. After coming home, he went back to Chief Supermarket and Sun Management for 39 years. In 1999, Roger became a real estate agent and co-owner of Butler Mohr GMAC. He served on many appointed and volunteer committees and had memberships including: Defiance City Reinvestment Committee; Defiance County Planning Commission; a charter member of Defiance County Litter and Recycling Board; past board member of Defiance Chamber of Commerce; past board member of Northwest Community College; and past president and board member of Lions Club.

Other memberships included: past chairman of Lions Halloween parade; member and past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 147; life member of Defiance Eagles Aerie; life member of AMVETS; member of VFW; past member of executive council of Blue Jacket (now Black Swamp District Boy Scouts); past member of Defiance Toastmaster International and Defiance Audubon Society; treasurer of Defiance County Arts Council; and Defiance County Master Gardeners.

He is survived by his wife of 521⁄2 years, Betty (Schultz) Mohr; a son, Scott of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Kelly (Scott) Smith of Walled Lake, Mich.; four granddaughters, Amaris, Calen, Mikaela, and Grace Smith of Walled Lake, Mich.; brothers, Harold, Defiance, Paul, Hudson, Fla., Richard, Defiance, and Rex, Defiance; and sister, Cathy Suman, Defiance.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Don.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, on May 31, 2014, at 11 a.m. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
