PAYNE -- Norman H. Eschbach, 97, of Payne, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
Norm was born in Paulding on Jan. 14, 1917, a son of the late Agnes (Rohlman) and Peter Eschbach. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, from 1942-1945. Norm worked at Rea Magnet Wire and was a member of the Eagles and Payne American Legion. On Nov. 20, 1942, Norm married Beulah Zartman, who passed away April 2, 2010.
Norm will be sadly missed by his children, Bill (Mary Teen) of Louisville, Ky., Ruth Eschbach and Judy (Ray) Lyons of Payne and Bob (Kim) of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Lucille Fatchett, Sally Greely, Dolores Brown, Ray, Alvin and Harold; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Norm's funeral mass is Wednesday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Payne. Recitation of the rosary is Tuesday, at 4 p.m. at Dooley Funeral Home, Payne, with viewing from 4:30-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, from 9-9:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, with military honors.
