NAPOLEON -- Velma Bostelman, 86, of Napoleon, Ohio, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
She was born February 21,1928, in Marion Township, Ohio, to the late Edward and Henrietta (Rettig) Schwiebert. On April 17, 1949, she married Wilfred Bostelman at Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler, Ohio, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2013.
Velma graduated from Hamler High School in 1946. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona, where she was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Lydia Mission Circle and WELCA. She was also a member of the Filling Home Guild, Ridgeville Legion Auxiliary 454, and volunteer at the Napoleon Lutheran Home.
Velma was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and cookie maker. She loved spending time with her family, baby-sitting, and following her grandchildren's activities.
She is survived by sons, Gary (Jamie) Bostelman, Rod (Jeri) Bostelman, and Bob (Vicki) Bostelman, all of Napoleon; grandchildren, Christine (Greg) Kerr, Kim (Jon) Egan, Elizabeth (Dustin) Placke, Jana Bostelman, Greg (Lori) Bostelman, Scott Bostelman, Brett (Jaci) Bostelman, and Brooke Bostelman; great grandchildren, Max, Molly, and Hannah Kerr, Matthew and Connor Egan, Gordon Placke, Brayden and Will Bostelman, and Zachary and Elizabeth Jo Bostelman; sister, Lola (Wilbur) Miller of Bowling Green.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; an infant daughter, Nancy; grandson, Eric; and brother, Leroy Schwiebert.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona, Ohio. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona.
