Phyllis Mae Bloom, 82, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.
She was born on November 30, 1931, to Mahlon and Blanche (Boylan) Brown in Jerome, Pa. On July 18, 1949, she married George David Bloom, Jr., and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2004.
Phyllis was a member of the Defiance Church of the Nazarene. She was a prayer warrior who lived her life for Jesus. Phyllis loved to paint and crochet until her eyesight deteriorated. Phyllis loved to cook and bake for everyone. She also played Dominos, Yahtzee, and Scrabble with family and friends. Phyllis was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Linda Lee (Melvin) McCoy of Defiance; son, David Mahlon (JoAnn) Bloom of Leipsic; son, Roger Allen Bloom of Clarksville, Tenn.; daughter, Valarie Jean (Art) Zachrich of Grand Prairie, Texas; son, Craig Eugene Bloom of Adolphus, Ky.; daughter, Judy Lynn (Doug) Fedderke of Defiance; 26 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; sister, Joanne Foust; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014, from 3-8 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 10-11 a.m. at Defiance Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Donald Leonard and Pastor Darrell Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens.
