Cletus C. Siler, 92, of Defiance, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Kinsgsbury House in Defiance.
He was born in Paulding County on June 5, 1921, the son of the late Joseph A. and Margaret M. (Weber) Siler. Clete was a member of St. John Catholic Church and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Japan and the Philippines. He was a farmer and owner/operator of a farm. He married Ethel L. (Bushong) Siler, who died Aug. 15, 2002.
Surviving are sons, Richard (Sue) Siler of Defiance, Gary (Tina) Siler of Defiance; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; sisters, Marcella Hedrick, Beatrice Lloyd, Verona Hohenberger, Dorothy Varner; and a brother, Victor Siler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 5, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Friends are invited to call today from 2-8 p.m. at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance, with a vigil service at 2 p.m. today. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, where VFW Post 3360 will conduct honorary military graveside rites.
