NAPOLEON -- Betty Arlene Kolbe, 87, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Golden Living -- Northcrest in Napoleon, where she had been a resident for several years.
Betty was born on December 9, 1926, to Leonard and Josephine (Pollitz) Gebhardt. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1945 and married Norman Kolbe on March 7, 1948. Betty was a lifetime member of the Napoleon VFW, and a former member of the St. Augustine Rosary Altar Guild, where she faithfully laundered the altar cloths for many years. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, often eating out and shopping with them. She loved to dance and particularly enjoyed polka music. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her children, Deb (Gary) Franz, Len (Jayne) Kolbe, and Rich (Andrea) Kolbe; grandchildren, Scott, Greg, Sharon, Stephanie, Heather, Lesa, Cary, and Jennifer; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Durr; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years, Norman Kolbe, who passed away in March 1999; grandson, Gary Franz Jr.; and sister, Herma Ludeman.
Friends are invited to visit from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Napoleon. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
