PAULDING -- Helen Imogene "Jean" Scarbrough, 81, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born September 7, 1932, in Paulding County, Ohio, the daughter of Francis and Virginia (Ladd) Pier. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Grover Hill.

She is survived by her companion of 35 years, Vaughn Sanderson, Paulding; children, Sandra (Steve) Stecker, Mindoro, Wis., Sue (Edgar) Doster, Paulding, and Michael Scarbrough, Wren, Ohio; siblings, Eileen Haines of Markle, Ind., Ray (Joan) Pier, Antwerp, Carroll "Toot" (Marilyn) Pier, Oakwood, Roger (Marlene) Pier, Antwerp, John (Bonnie) Pier, Melrose, and Dave (Sarah) Pier, Charloe; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert Pier.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, County Rd. 151, Grover Hill, with Pastor Dave Prior officiating. Burial will be in Hedges Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services at the church.
