WAUSEON -- Harold "Tony" Burkholder, 80, of Wauseon, passed away early Friday, April 25, 2014, at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
Prior to his retirement he delivered propane fuel for the former Miller Gas Company of Archbold for 38 years.
Mr. Burkholder was born on May 31, 1933, the son of the late Ray and the late Chloris (Crowe) Burkholder. On July 4, 1952, he married the former Phyllis Frazier and she survives. He was a farmer and also enjoyed tending his fruit trees. He was very passionate about visiting and encouraging others and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Wauseon where he had served as a Deacon. He was instrumental in making homemade ice cream for the church to raise money for their mission team.
Surviving besides his wife, Phyllis, are sons David (Judy) Burkholder of Wauseon, Dennis (Karen) Burkholder of Wauseon, Dan (Sandy) Burkholder of Delta, and Del (Linda) Burkholder of Wauseon; and daughter DeAnn (Larry) Frey of Wauseon. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Irene Ebersole, and a granddaughter-in-law, Sara (Rychener) Burkholder.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the First Christian Church in Wauseon, with Pastor Mitch Maxted and Pastor Mary Jo Bray officiating. Friends may call at the First Christian Church today from 2-8 p.m.
