SMITHVILLE, Tenn. -- Former Paulding resident Steven Wyss, 65, Smithville, died Thursday, April 17, 2014.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., on August 27, 1948, the son of John and M. Gertrude (Hake) Wyss. He married Carla Ann Hanenkratt, who survives. He received his BS in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. Steve began his career at the Grizzly Plant in Paulding and was transferred to Smithville in 1979. After 43 years, he retired as test services manager. He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, Smithville, and National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
He is survived by his wife, Carla Ann Wyss, Smithville; two children, John Paul Wyss of Smithville and Stephanie (Graham Porter) Wyss, Littleton, Colo.; his mother, M. Gertrude Wyss, Fort Wayne, Ind.; siblings, Jeanne Wyss of South Bend, Ind., Beverly Courtney of Tampa, Fla., Gregory Wyss of Corunna, Ind., Christine Giant of Fort Wayne, Paul Wyss of Yoder, Ind., Lisa Werling of Fort Wayne and Ann Wyss, Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his father, John, in 1997.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
