ARCHBOLD -- Willard "Johnny" Erbskorn, 91, of Archbold, passed away Monday evening, April 21, 2014, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
He was born February 8, 1923, at Archbold, the son of William and Maude (Krick) Erbskorn, and graduated from Archbold High School in 1942. He married Virginia Sommers on March 16, 1946, and she preceded him in death on December 1, 2011. A lifelong resident of Archbold, he worked at the former Peter Eicher and Sons in Archbold for 21 years, and then worked at Sauder Woodworking Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of World War II, and enjoyed gardening, taking bus tours and was a Cleveland Indians fan. He was a member of the Archbold Methodist Church and the VFW Post 7424 in Wauseon.
He is survived by five children, Vicky (Ron) Hoag of Maumee, Larry Erbskorn of Archbold, Sharon (Bob) Knox of Edgerton, Mike (Annette) Erbskorn of Willoughby Hills, and Mark (Andi) Erbskorn of Archbold; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son-in-law, Albert Cordy; a grandson, John Robert Hoag; four brothers, Floyd, Noble, Glenn and Richard Erbskorn; and sisters, Irene Zimmerman, Mildred Boger, Mary Fordham, Gladys Richardson and Margarite Erbskorn.
Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, Archbold, with Rev. Paul Reichert officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post 7424. Friends may call at Short Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
