Alfonse 'Al' Verfaillie

PAULDING -- Alfonse "Al" Verfaillie, 87, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Gardens of Paulding, Paulding, Ohio.

He was born May 18, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Julius and Mary (DeCook) Verfaillie. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He retired in 1979 from the former Grizzly Manufacturing, Paulding, and was a member of VFW Post 587.

He is survived by a nephew, Robert Verfaillie, and a niece, Deanna (Tom) Rhonehouse, both of Paulding.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lucien, Frank, and Andrew Verfaillie; an infant sister, Laura; two nephews, David and Larry; and a niece, Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Pastor Robert Verfaillie officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery, with military graveside services accorded by VFW Post 587. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9, from 11 a.m. until time of services.
