Steven 'Mac' McKibben

Steven "Mac" Dean McKibben, 65, of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at ProMedica Regional Medical Hospital, Defiance.

He was born on January 14, 1949, the son of Glenn and Joyce A. (Troyer) McKibben in Defiance. On July 8, 1972, he married Sue (Hammer) McKibben, who survives.

Steve was a 1967 graduate of Ayersville High School. He was employed by Johns-Manville for 43 years, retiring in 2010. Steve served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970, and was stationed in Vietnam. He was a member of Zion's Lutheran Church, life member of Defiance VFW Post 3360, AMVETS, Elks, Eagles and Moose.

Steve was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather. He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Buckeye, Cubs and Bears fan. He loved the simple things in life, playing cards, watching for deer and sitting outside on the porch swing. He will be missed more than words can say.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sue; mother, Joyce, of Defiance; daughters, Tracey (Larry) Kennedy of Bryan, Jennifer (Chris) Epple of Defiance; grandchildren, Sam and Jack Kennedy, Maya Epple; sisters, Sharon Waldron of Defiance and Suellen (Mark) Weidenhamer of Defiance.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Zion's Lutheran Church, Defiance, with Pastor Timothy G. Reynolds officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-6 p.m. today, April 6, 2014, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, with honorary military rites being accorded by VFW Post 3360.
