William 'Bill' Behrman

William "Bill" Fred Behrman, 79, of Defiance, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Napoleon, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was born in Bartlow Township, Ohio, on September 16, 1934, the son of the late Albert and Lorena (Schwiebert) Behrman. He attended Deshler High School. On May 31, 1959, he married Marilyn Bostleman, who survives.

In addition to farming, Bill was employed by Johns Manville for 42 years, retiring in 1997. He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Okolona, where he held numerous offices and positions. He was also a member of Ward L. Adams American Legion Post 454 in Ridgeville Corners. Bill proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Weitheim, Germany, from 1957 through 1959.

Bill is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Daniel (Beth), Defiance, Ohio, Alan, Defiance, Ohio and Joel (Kim), Maumee, Ohio; grandchildren, Alex Behrman, Napoleon, Ohio, Audrey Behrman, Cincinnati, Ohio, Amy Behrman, Defiance, Ohio, Amanda Behrman, Moira Behrman and Madison Behrman, Maumee, Ohio; brothers, Robert, Napoleon, Ohio, Delbert (Lorna), Deshler, Herb (Lynn), Hamler; sisters, Loretta Schroeder, Napoleon, Annetta (Ed) Rosebrock, Napoleon, Danelda (Robert) Drewes, Hoytville, Ohio, Marjorie Behnfeldt, Napoleon, Darlene (Leonard) Rutter, Auburn, Indiana, and Karen Rabe, Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-law, Fran Behrman, Napoleon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Phillip; brothers, Raymond and Harold; brothers-in-law, Fred Schroeder and Paul Rabe; and sisters-in-law, Joyce and Marcia Behrman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona. Interment will follow at the church cemetery, with military honors to be accorded by Ridgeville American Legion Post. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
