NAPOLEON -- Barbara J. Waltimire, 80, of Napoleon, Ohio, died peacefully Saturday, March 1, 2014, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

She was born October 5, 1933, in Defiance County to the late Fred and Marie (Elling) Gerken. On December 10, 1988, she married Donald "Jim" Waltimire, and he survives. She was a 1951 Jewell High School graduate. She worked at Campbell Soup Company and Kroger, Defiance, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon; Ridgeville American Legion Auxiliary Post 454; Michigan Field Trial Association, Midwest Field Trial Association, Henry County Hospital Auxiliary and Red Cross bloodmobile.

She thoroughly enjoyed raising and racing dogs with Jim, and watching Sam Hornish Jr. race.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Leesa (Neil) Gerber, Washington, Illinois, Julie (Nick) Ryan, Napoleon; sons, Scott Tietje, Napoleon, Brian (Debbie) Tietje, Atascadero, California; stepdaughters, Jamie (Josh) Palczweski, Tucson, Arizona, Jenny (Bill) Schulte, Fort Jennings; stepson, Jimmy (Rose) Waltimire, Toledo; sister, Helene (Otto, Jr.) Meyer, Jewell; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, with Pastor Marcis and Pastor Holyer officiating. A funeral luncheon will follow the services. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m., prior to services at the church.
