HICKSVILLE -- Harry B. Reed, 83, died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at his home.

He was born on February 7, 1931, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Lawrence and Virginia (Richard) Reed. He was a 1949 graduate of Northside High School. He attended college in Corning, New York. On December 10, 1977, he was united in marriage to Kay Strahm, and she survives. Harry served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He owned Superior Cleaners in Hicksville for 15 years and retired from Commercial Intertech. Harry was a member of the Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556, Antwerp VFW, and Farmer American Legion. His passions were hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Kay; daughters, Betsy (Wayne) Silverman of Chandler, Ariz., Sharon (Barry) Cox of Carmel, Ind., Beth Ann (Kindinger) Blaising of New Haven, Ind.; sons, Rex Reed of Hicksville, Scott (Kelly) Mills of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Bopp.

A memorial service for Harry will be Tuesday, March 4, at 4 p.m., with visitation starting at 3 p.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
