HICKSVILLE -- Steven A. Scranton, 58, Hicksville, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Community Health & Wellness Centers, Bryan, Ohio.

Steve was born on September 26, 1955, in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of the late Lauren and Lauretta (Robinson) Scranton. He attended Hicksville High School with the class of 1974. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served at the end of the Vietnam War era. On July 13, 1974, Steve was united in marriage to Karen Scott.

Steve was the owner-operator of Scranton Research & Development Company, consulting for Chase Brass & Copper of Montpelier. He also owned Scranton Machine Inc., from 1997-2003. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hicksville. He did a lot of consulting work for and served on the board of directors at Four County Career Center.

Steve is survived by Karen, his wife of 39 years; a daughter, Amy (Will) Fleitz of Montpelier; two sons, Matt (Courtney) Scranton, Tad (Ashley) Scranton, all of Hicksville; six grandchildren, Dillan, Grant, Regan, Ethan, Kurtis and Adele; three great-grandchildren, Gage, Zander and Anna Belle; three brothers, Herbert (Mary) of Ney, Ohio, and Larry (Cheryl) and Richard (Paula), all of Hicksville.

Funeral services for Steve will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Visitation will be Saturday from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
