DELTA -- Ramiro Flores Garza, 87, of Delta, passed away early Thursday, February 6, 2014, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center. Prior to his retirement he had worked at the General Motors Central Foundry in Defiance for many years.
Mr. Garza was born on July 10, 1926, in Elsa, Hidalgo County, Texas, the son of the late Fermin Vega Garza and the late Patricia Gutierrez Flores. On Dec. 1, 1946, he married the former Julia Saenz, and she preceded him in death in 2001.
Surviving are his children, Ramiro Garza, Jr. of Delta, Romeo Garza of Findlay, Ohio, Ruby Smith of Liberty Center, Ohio, Rebecca (George) Queen of Rittman, Ohio, Raquella Yoder (Dennis Yoder) of Edcouch, Texas, Rose Marie Demaline of Delta, Ruth Behringer of Defiance, Ohio, Roger Garza and wife Portia of Toledo, Ohio. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren; sister, Albesa Trevino; and brothers, Casimiro Garza and Manuel Garza.
Preceding him in death were a son, Ray Garza; siblings, Thomas Garza, Oscar Garza, Fermin Garza, Jr., Nasis Eva Garza and Eva Garza.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at the Delta Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Randy Trowbridge officiating. Interment followed in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers were Paul Smith, Sam Smith, Matt Demaline, Adam Demaline, Sergio Manriquez, Rafael Manriquez, Joe Miller and Jim Miller.
