Rebecca Christiana Garza, 15, of Defiance, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Bryan on November 2, 1998. She was the daughter of the late Zoila Danielle Garza.
Rebecca was a sophomore at Ayersville High School but attended at Defiance High School's multiple disabilities unit that teaches students independent living skills. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church.
She was the family's "ladybug."
Surviving are her aunt Angelique Vela, and aunt Calista Garza; uncle Robert (Cynthia) Garza Jr., uncle Valentino Garza, uncle Alejandro (Mollie) Garza, and uncle Nicholas Garza, all of Defiance; her great-grandfather Benjamin Gonzalez of Toledo; and great-grandmother Consuelo Garza; and many other family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother Zoila and grandparents Robert and Christiana Garza.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Friends are invited to call Tuesday 4-8 p.m.; Wednesday 2-8 p.m.; and Thursday 9-11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in Riverview Memory Gardens.
