Glen W. Vogel, 84, of Defiance, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Mercy Hospital of Defiance.

He was born on October 11, 1929, to Henry and Irene (Dirr) Vogel in Henry County, Ohio. On May 16, 1953, he married Mary (Meyer) Vogel. Glen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Defiance. He was past treasurer of the Sunday school and a member of its brotherhood. He was a trustee and served on the usher corps. He worked at GM Powertrain for 441⁄2 years, retiring in 1993. Glen enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.

Glen is survived by his loving wife, Mary; sons, Gregory (Cheryl) Vogel of Edon and Michael (Linda) Vogel, Montpelier; daughter, Jane (Dan) Tuttle of Ayersville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Lang of Defiance, and Rosella (Lee) Conkey of Hicksville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Bosiak; and brothers, Wilbur, George, Roger and Victor Vogel.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens. Handling arrangements is Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance.
