Phyllis "Jeannie" Gerken, 77, of Antwerp, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born in Defiance on June 6, 1936, a daughter of the late Agnes (McBride) and Henry Ripke. Jeannie was a homemaker who loved to paint and write poetry. On Sept. 7, 1966, she married Larry Gerken.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Larry; children, Ronald (Nicole) of Woodburn, Mandy (Jim) Clemens of Cecil, Kelly (Ron) Tuttle and Robby (Kathy), both of Antwerp; siblings, Betty Hunt of Continental, Janet Ashbaugh of Morriston, Fla., Karen (Bob) Jones of Bastrop, Texas, Linda Ringenberg of Texas, Barb (Bill) Gerdeman of Fremont, Ohio, Ron (Alice) Ripke of Junction City, Ore., and Lynn (Gerry) Ripke of Liberty Center; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was a brother, Jerry Ripke.
Her service is at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 13, with viewing one hour prior at Dooley Funeral Home, Antwerp, where viewing is also today from 2-6 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery.
