Lester Hoellrich

Lester Marion Hoellrich 89, of Holgate, died Monday morning Jan. 6, 2014 at Vancrest Healthcare center of Holgate.

His Legacy… He was born July 19, 1924, to Elmer and Leona (Eding) Hoellrich in Pleasant Bend. Lester was in the U.S. Army. Having been injured in WWII, he was awarded the Purple Heart. On March 15, 1947, he married Lavina M. Lero. He was a farmer and formerly employed with Johns Manville and its Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Emanuels Christian Church, New Bavaria. Lester also belonged to the American Legion, DAV of Defiance and the AMVETS in New Bavaria.

His Family… He is survived his wife Lavina of 66 years; sons, David (Jackie) Hoellrich, Defiance, and Dan (Diane) Hoellrich, Holgate; daughter, Connie Dunn, Defiance; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Lowell Hoellrich, Napoleon; and a sister, Marge Hoellrich, Holgate. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Melvin Hoellrich, Art Hoellrich and Shirley Gardener.

His Farewell Services… Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral Home, 114 William Street, Holgate, on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and again one hour before the church service. The Celebration of Lester's life will be on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Emanuel's Christian Church, New Bavaria with Reverend Ed Briggeman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, rural Defiance.
